![]() Lumiere Cowl process photo 1After using a poster board to drape the shape of the cowl, Wonderflex was cut and sewn into the cowl shape. It was then steamed to harden and then two layers of Sculpt or Coat was applied. A Sharpe was used to draw on basic designs. | ![]() Lumiere Cowl process photo 2Pipe insulation foam was cut into fourths with a bandsaw and was glued onto the hardened cowl. Other small pieces of hardened Wonderflex were then glued on in layers to add dimension. Plastic gem stones were glued on top to add texture. A pool noodle was carved with a leaf texture with a hot knife and glued to the edge of the cowl. |
![]() Lumiere Cowl Process photo 3After all the decorative elements were added, another layer of Sculpt or Coat was added and left to dry over night. | ![]() Lumiere Cowl Process photo 4The entire cowl was lined with brocade fabric and then painted gold with acrylic metallic paint. |
![]() Lumiere Cowl Process Photo 5Highlights and shadows were then painted in with black, brown and white acrylic paint. | ![]() Completed Lumiere Act 2 cowl |
![]() Lumiere Hands Process Photo 1After the fake torches were bought, they were covered with a layer of poster board and hardened Wonderflex. | ![]() Lumiere Hands Process Photo 2The hands are designed to snap apart into two pieces so that the batteries can be changed in the torches. After being sure of the fit, both pieces are covered in a layer of Sculpt or Coat and left to dry over night. |
![]() Lumiere Hands Process photo 3Grey pipe insulation was cut in half and then glued to the hands. Smaller pieces of hardened Wonderflex were glued to the top of the hands to mask the connection between the two halves. Plastic gem stones were glued on to add texture before painting. | ![]() Lumiere Hands Process photo 4The top of the hands conceal the top of the torch. Spray foam was used to create the candle drips. After that was dry, everything was covered in a layer of Sculpt or Coat to dry over night. |
![]() Lumiere HeadA Wonderflex base was draped on a wig block. It was then sewn and hardened. The candle head has a base of floral foam that is covered by spray foam. It was then covered in Sculpt or Coat and painted with white acrylic paint. | ![]() Finished Lumiere Hand |

![]() 1890's CorsetI made this corset for an actress who had acute scoliosis. I added a cookie to the right side of the bust and hooks to the left side to aid in leveling the skirt of the costume. | ![]() 1890's CorsetAnother concern was movement. I added two jumbo spandex panels on the sides to allow for greater range of motion. |
